Having looked at the bbfc guidelines, it is evident that the music video should be classified as a PG.
Discrimination - Discrimination is unlikely to be acceptable states the guideline. However, if it is discrete and unable for children to identify, it may be acceptable. Our music video doesn't show any sign of discrimination in any areas.
Drugs - Drugs misuse and illegal drugs must be innocuous. Once again, no drug references are carried out, this therefore makes it suitable to be a PG.
Horror - Sequences should not be prolonged. Once again, this is something which isn't included in our video.
Imitable Behaviour - No detail of potentially dangerous behaviour which can easily be influenced by young children. There is one scene where a weapon is seen, however, it is quickly hidden and so it cannot be influenced for children.
Language - Mild bad language is only acceptable, this isn't a problem for us as no bad language is used.
I understand that films and video games are classified by the bbfc; not music videos! However, for my benefit I thought it would be interesting to know for certain and it can relate to our target audience and whether I have chosen my target audience member appropriately. From reading the information above, it is clear that our music video would be classified as a PG if the bbfc were to certify it.

Cast
George Cooper is the lead character who is performing in the wrong places at the wrong time.
Ashley Scott plays three characters, we wanted him to play all of the characters as it would be creative and comical having him dressing and turning into many characters. Unfortunately, this mixes in with other characters being on camera at the same time and so it would incredibly hard to achieve. However, he still plays characters pact with humour, which are, George's wife, Granny, Secretary and the Bird guy (obsessed with birds).
Sadie Richardson, she plays a women who randomly stands infront of the camera, making George have to peer around her when he is performing.
James Telfer plays a character which shoulder barges into George as he is walking down the street in Lincoln.
William Reynolds is one of the gay security guards who is in two scenes, one being with his "other half" walking down the street and pulls a disgusted face as if he doesn't want to be associated with George. Another is when he is doing his job and running after Ashley when he is holding the bird.
julian
Thomas Manson is our "performer" who is always with the narrative. He is playing the guitar and following George wherever he is (excluding the first verse and heaven scene) whilst George is singing and in the narrative.

Research on the lyrics and artist
Drag myself from my bed around 20 past 6
Get my kids up make breakfast 1 egg 2 toast 3 weetabix
And as I sit down I look up
And your standing in the doorway sun at your back
in my old brown dressing gown
Well no one can love you more than I love you now
but I
Gotta go running for the bus
Coat flying and i try not to miss it this time
But the drivers waiting and that's strange
Kids on the top deck quiet for a change
And theres no rain and no roadworks in the
Bus lane and all my hurts run away
And im smiling as I'm punching in
Chorus
The day I died was the best day of my life (2x)
Tell my friends and my kids and my wife
everything will be alright
The day I died was the best day of my life
Secretaries they got a smile for me
and the in tray on my desks almost empty
I get a memo from executive joe
saying Rob the gob is getting kicked out
for embezzling funds from the company account
and i'd be lying if i said i wasn't chuffed
cos i always hated rob
and now they'll probably offer me robs old job
And in the park at lunch
Theres no whinos on my favorite bench
none of that drunk chatter none of that greasy stench
and the scrawney little pigeons with the gammy leg
decide to dive bomb someone elses sandwich instead
and there's something about the city today
like all the colours conspire to overwhelm the grey
and this close to the fire I can feel no cold
but a rainbow halo around my soul
Chorus
The day I died was the best day of my life (2x)
Tell my friends and my kids and my wife
everything will be alright
The day I died was the best day of my life
So I leave work get to the high street and i miss my bus
Should I wait for another no I can't be arsed
I begin to walk and rush hour crowd seem to part
Like the red sea, and im stopping at the offy
20 cigerettes and a 6 pack to relax me
And as I cross back over the street
I guess i never saw that taxi
Chorus
The day I died was the best day of my life (2x)
Tell my friends and my kids and my wife
everything will be alright
The day I died was the best day of my life
Although we have put in the planning what footage we are doing on every line, I thought it would be important if we researched into the lyrics to expand on further ideas. The lyrics convey a man whom is doing his daily routine when getting ready for work. However, due to his death, this completely changes his routine and it is grounded to a halt. Therefore, I felt that in our video, it should have a climatic point at his death.
I spoke to my partner as I didn't understand how the man was jumping in and out of death through-out the song when the chorus was on. We both came to the conclusion that he was having flashbacks. This is something I think we could develop by dipping the footage to white when editing. This makes it realistic and a clever way of using techniques I have been learnt to convey something (dipping to white, conveying flashbacks).

Generic Conventions
Mise-en-Scene
C-The costumes are casual and modern. George will be wearing a shirt and jeans whilst some others are wearing what is specific to their job title (Will and Julian are wearing a white shirt, black tie, black shoes and black tie) their costume allows the audience to understand that they security guards.
L-The lighting will be natural light as we want this to be realistic and random which I feel the lighting can contribute in doing.
A-The acting needs to be quite elaborate for the people that he "bumps" into as me and George are wanting a comical element. E.g. A "Grandma" abruptly falls over and a trips over "her" - despite it being a 17 year old male playing him.
M-No make-up is needed.
P-There are various props used for various reasons. Mainly for:

- Helping the audience understand
- Links in with the narrative
- For comical purposes
S-The settings are around school and down Lincoln high street. One of the reasons for filming around the school is because it's easy and reliable to get your cast. Also, if continuity is needed or something goes wrong, we could quickly get the footage filmed again. I am filming down the high street as the narrative is about a youth who is in a popular location to make it realistic why people are coming in and out of the shot. I know through research that it is a common place to film, so this helped me to decide.

Conventions for my Genre
These are some things I have taken into account for when i'm filming. I looked at various music video's where the genre is acoustic, I started with the music video Candy by Paolo Nutini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3xYXGMRRYk
As you can see, just at the beginning you establish a guitar, calm singing etc.
It is paramount that I use the generic conventions as it is these that relate to the music video and are the ingredients that make that specific genre to the video.
"The use of iconography speaks to the audience" - Tzvetan Todorov
Props
I created a list enquiring the props that we need for the music video. Here is the list:
- Guitar
- Paint
- Stuffed pigeon
- Beer (6 pack)
- Pack of fags
- Tesco Bag
- Cardboard Box
- 1 egg, 2 slices of toast and 3 weetabix's
- Computer
- Walking Stick
- Bomb Vest
- Cardboard Taxi
I also wrote to the side of each prop, who would be responsible for bringing it in. However, the bomb vest is something which we will create through cardboard and toilet paper rolls, making it obvious that the vest is fake as we don't want to portray real violence at that level.
Some of the props are used through the lyrics e.g. one egg, two toast, three weetabix. Others are there for scenes which we have created for different parts of the video. For example, the computer is used when the secretary is at work and a line of the lyrics are typed, this was done to add extra creativity and a decent way to show the lyrics through the video and the song.

"stuffed pigeon"
"TNT - bomb Vest" - this will be attached to a plain vest

"walking stick".

Cigarette packet.
